I Have No Voice Left

But we won, and that’s all that matters. Go Panthers!Panthers2

Final score: Panthers 23, Ravens 21 (yeah, that was close….)

In other news….
the Titans are beating the Redskins 25 to 22. The Redskins must really suck this year…

I Don’t Know Why I’m Yelling

Ravens_gameday
No one can hear me in Baltimore from here… That doesn’t seem to matter. I’m still yelling like crazy. The Ravens have a really good defense. But then again, so do we. And we’ve got Delhomme and Smith. Hoo-ya!

Current score:
Panthers 13
Ravens    7

8:14 left in the 3rd quarter

Un-Believable

I can’t believe I’m sitting here watching Titans football on ABC and actually enjoying it. I’m cheering and everything.

Maybe that’s because they are actually playing football, rather than picking fights or running around the field trying to figure out what’s going on.

It doesn’t hurt that Reggie Bush is playing for the Saints (maybe this year they won’t live up to their nickname, the Ain’ts!) and is pushing the Titan defense to really work.

And it doesn’t hurt that we’ve got Vince Young. And Chris Brown.

Of course, they still won’t replace my Panthers in my heart. But it may be a good season to be a (sort-of) Titans fan after all.

It’s That Time of Year

NFL Monday Night Football is on again. MMMMMMmmm… is that the smell of Fall I detect in the air?

I have to confess. I don’t watch football as much as a fall asleep to it. 🙂 Something about the sound of the crowds cheering and the commentators… er, commentating…. it’s just so soothing and comforting. Reminds me of Sunday afternoons when I was a kid.

The fact that Monday Night Football is playing tells me my favorite season is on its way. I absolutely love the summer-into-fall fall-into-winter season. September through December. My birthday. Fall and Halloween — even though I don’t celebrate it, I still love the feel and look and smells of Fall — Thanksgiving and Christmas. Yeeeesss!!! Awesome time of year.

Bring on the birthday celebrations! Bring on the holidays! Bring on Autumn!  After this summer, I’m ready for it!

Go Panthers!!

Weekend Madness Update

I spent most of this weekend doing research, re-writing and then re-re-writing and thinking lots regarding two projects I needed to complete. I didn’t. It’s now nearly 1am — I needed to be asleep by 11pm — and I still have nothing of consequence to show for my time. Maybe I’m not a writer after all. Maybe I’m just a wanna be….

I’m very tired, so I’ll make this quick. The weekend was also filled with March Madness, a strange disease that seems to come over Adria around this time. Even though her beloved IU isn’t in the finals, she’s still screaming her head off and putting her body — especially her hands and face — through a great many gyrations and contortions I’ve never known a body could do. Well, except maybe those weird acrobats in the circus….

The weirdest thing is, she’s got me doing it now too! Sheesh… here I am screaming and yelling, cheering and wailing, covering my face, hitting my forehead and making all manner of faces — all in the name of NCAA basketball, which, by the way, I know nothing — and I mean NOTHING — about, and which I didn’t give a rat’s a–um… behind — about in my life until Saturday.

In-sane. Now I know why they call it March Madness.

Sharon, a friend from Mosaic Nashville, came over late Saturday night and we watched the modern (or should that be post-modern??) version of Romeo & Juliet, had some wine and just had some good talk time.

Overall, it was a nice weekend. Relaxing and quiet.

There are still many things my spirit and mind are chewing on. Many questions stirring in my soul that my spirit begs to be answered. We had a very compelling conversation in our small group at Mosaic tonight — so much to write about! No wonder I’ve now got mental constipation (also known – to proper people – as  "writer’s block").

Wow, I’m falling asleep typing this! If I were writing with pencil there’d be all these squiggly lines down the page where I’d dozed off, my hand drifted down the page and the pencil went on a mad rampage at being ignored. Thank God my Mac isn’t so vicious.
I’m off to bed….

Bring Back Janet

I’m sitting here watching the Superbowl with Adria. Well, really, the end of the half-time show.

I "should" be writing — I have an assignment of about 1,000 words due tomorrow… it might be a leeetle late….. ‘Cause I’m watching the game instead of writing. I’m not interested in who wins, just who loses. I don’t want the Patriots to win. It’s a principle thing with me. They beat my Panthers last year. I want them to lose big time this year.

So half time… I have one word. Bor-ring. Not that I’m into these kinds of shows anyway. Last year I missed the moment all the hoopla was about. I was hanging out at the bar-b-cue, talking with friends when "it" happened. But I gotta tell ya, Paul McCartney may be cool and all, but he makes for a boring show — especially in someplace as big as a football stadium. What kind of show did the folks up in the attic seats get, I ask you. A few fireworks on two different songs, some videos shown on small long screens, and a little tiny ant-thing on a little stand
